Being in Bangalore is bliss, a fact I realized after returning from Salem where we were almost baked by the heat. Summer is an awesome season. There are umpteen interesting things one can do in Summer – relish mangoes, travel to a faraway destination, impromptu visit to friends place, keep gazing at the trees in bloom…. the list is endless .
I can spend hours together gazing at trees. Other than the beautiful blooms, on keen observation one cannot miss out the drama that takes place with the tree as the stage. A photo story of the Shikra and the Crow fighting with each other unfolds below.
One late afternoon after lunch I settled down on the sofa to have a nap but my attention was drawn to a relentless call of a crow. I stepped out into the balcony to see what was happening. The bahunia tree was in full bloom with lots of bees and butterflies on it. The crow was calling out loudly at a Shikra which was holding on to a prey on this tree.
The crow was trying to snatch the prey from the Shikra. The Shikra started to eat when the crow persistently irritated it. The Shikra did try to scare the crow away. Finally the Shikra flew away with the prey. Undoubtedly it was a well spent afternoon for my kids too who watched this drama with bated breath.
