We had been to Coorg for a family reunion. We chose Coorg because nature trails also could be included.
We were delighted to see a foraging flock of malabar parakeets and plum headed parakeets .
This flock entertained us for almost two hours in the evening. This flock was foraging a nearby paddy field and came back to the same tree. This is one of the memorable moments of my life.
Birds often form flocks while foraging, which allows many birds to take advantage of the same food supplies. Feeding in a group also gives more birds the opportunity to find food that one bird has already located. Foraging flocks are often comprised of mixed species that may feed on similar foods but in non-competing ways
